Action Pledge 2021
Sign Our Head & Neck Cancer Action Pledge!
On Wednesday 3rd February 2021, the European Commission launched their Beating Cancer Plan with the aim to transform cancer prevention, detection, treatment and management of cancer in the EU, as well as reduce health inequalities between and within Member States at a pan-tumour level.
In response to the Plan, the EHNS published a letter via the Make Sense campaign to key members of the European Commission to outline our support. While the letter recognises that overall the content of the Plan is encouraging, it also highlights specific, crucial areas where the consideration of additional measures is recommended to address deficits in the Plan with regard to head and neck cancer. You can read the Letter of Response here.
Now, as we look to further engage with the European Commission, we need your support!
We call on our supporters to sign a pledge of support for the five-point action plan outlined in the Make Sense campaign’s White Paper, launched in September 2020. The signatories of this pledge will be included in an open letter to the European Commission as part of our 2021 Awareness Week, in which we will reiterate the urgent need for action to address the state of head and neck cancer awareness, diagnosis, treatment and survivorship care across Europe.
I pledge my support for Campaign’s five-point action to drive change for head and neck cancer patients in Europe and call on the European Commission to:
2. Support early diagnosis and referral to qualified healthcare professionals.
3. Promote multidisciplinary care as a standardised best practice approach for patients across Europe.
4. Advocate for the highest standards of rehabilitation and survivorship care.
5. Dedicate EU and national research and innovation funds to support further research on head and neck cancer, including rehabilitation and survivorship care.
